ADAC: Camping fans love Germany and Italy, Istria is the most popular region
Germany has retained its leading position as a travel destination for RV drivers in 2014. This is the result of the current analysis of ADAC's members travel routes. Selected by 32.3% tourists as their most favourite camping destination, Germany is ranked first followed by second-ranked Italy with 14.2%, Croatia with its 11.2%, France with 11% and Norway with 4.6%.
The regional analysis has resulted in ranking Istria first with 9.8% among top 5 according to marks given by camper travellers. This Adriatic peninsula has shown most improvement of 0.7%. The Dalmatian coast has recorded 5%, and compared to 2013, the province Schleswig-Holstein (3.6%) has overtaken Lake Garda (3.3%) and Upper Bavaria/South Bavaria (3.1%).
23.4% of camping trailer drivers continue to opt for Italy as their vacation destination. It is followed by Germany with 22.4%, while Croatia holds stable third in route planning with 20.6%. They are followed by France (11.3%) and Austria (4.8%).
The biggest winner among the most favourite regions – by far – is Istria (18.3%) with its 0.3% increase. It is followed by Friuli-Venezia Giulia (7.1%), the Dalmatian coast (5.8 %), Garda Lake (5.6%) and Catalonia (3.6%).
These are the results obtained from processing data submitted by 41,000 ADAC planned routes for camping trailer drivers. ADAC club member route planning was carried out in ADAC branches.
