Selection of the best: Zlatna Koza - Golden Goat Award 2015

Every year, one day in December is dedicated to the prestigious Zlatna Koza - Capra d'Oro Award, which has been awarded by the Istria Tourist Board since 1995. This is an award for outstanding contribution in the field of marketing activities in Istrian tourism, especially in the field of improving the product as well as in the field of tourism promotion activities, products and projects in the Region of Istria.

23 candidates presenting a variety of events, attractive and innovative tourist projects as well as visual communication responded to the call for the Zlatna Koza - Golden Goat Award, conveniently published on 27th September, on the occasion of World Tourism Day. The main award for the most deserving individuals is contained in the form of a commemorative goat sculpture with a cash prize amounting to 10,000 kuna, whilst the Golden Goat Charter with an amount of 4,000 kuna is awarded to projects, products or activities in four categories: Events, Visual Communications, Tourism Product and Innovative Product.

The Tourist Board is trying to encourage all participants of tourism in Istria on improving the quality of the promotion of their destination, on introducing innovations, creating new stories throughout the Zlatna Koza - Capra d'Oro Award. Moreover, this award will represent acknowledgment for efforts made by the participants through their display of the best achievements in Istrian tourism.

The decision of the best candidate is brought by the Award Committee, an independent body composed of six members, including two members of the Tourist Board and four members who are selected from among renowned experts in the field of tourism, marketing and art and a media representative responsible for monitoring tourism.

The Istria Tourist Board’s Tourist Council has appointed this year’s Commission to evaluate candidates. These were the members:

Barbara Ban, Glas Istre’s journalist
Valter Flego, President of the Istria Tourist Board
Denis Ivošević, Director of the Istria Tourist Board

The awarding ceremony took place in Rovinj’s Lone Hotel, starting at 1:30 pm, with host Jelena Vitasović and musical accompaniment by Iva Gortan from Pazin and guitar duo. Awards and prizes to laureates were presented by the President of the Istria Tourist Board and President of the Region of Istria, Valter Flego.
