Željko Kukurin, CEO of Valamar Riviera, the largest tourist company in Croatia, was declared businessman of the year by readers’ choice of Večernji list and Poslovni dnevnik. He won the title in a record tourist year in which for the first time, Croatia exceeded 100 million overnight stays.

Since he was appointed CEO of Valamar Riviera’s consolidated portfolio in June 2015, strong growth of the company began. In the last three years Valamar has more than doubled the value of its stock, started a cycle of intensive investments in tourist facilities and services in all of its destinations, taken over Baška Hoteli and Imperial Rab, carried out important strategic partnerships and achieved a double-digit annual growth in both income and profits.
To date, Valamar has invested over 4 billion kuna in Croatian tourism, and by 2020 it will invest a further two billion kuna. In 2017, with a total investment of 906 million kuna, Valamar undertook the largest annual investment cycle in Croatian tourism and provided a thousand new jobs.

Valamar will continue to invest in 2018, when total investments will exceed 705 million kuna, and 600 new jobs are planned.
