    17.01.2019 - 05.03.2019

    Labin

Taking over the keys of Labin and children's costume parade, masquerade ball & burning of the carnival mascot

Taking over the keys of Labin and children's costume parade, masquerade ball & burning of the carnival mascot

Traditionally, on Antonja, i.e. St. Anton’s Day on January 17 begins the craziest season - the carnival season. The fifth season, as it is called, is a tradition of Istrian, Kvarner and Primorje regions.

The tradition of carnival (called poklade or mesopust in the local dialects) in Labin is preserved by the carnival association Labinjonska kompanija - domoća folšarija that will take over Labin town keys and introduce its government.

Along with the main carnival parade in Labin for adults and children, as well as numerous village carnival fests across the Labin area, the carnival rule lasts until March 5, when the doll Pust is traditionally burned, found guilty for all the bad things in the past period and announcing the arrival of spring.

  • 100 miles of Istria: Red course

    12.04.2019

    Labin - Umag

    Ultratrail race

    Ultratrail race

The 100 miles course is the hardest and the most beautiful course that we offer. It stretches from the eastern part of Istria, over its highest mountain down to the mainland, and ends on the western part of the peninsula in the city of Umag.

Along the route you will experience every possible aspect of trail running - really technical terrain, a little bit of coastering, old medieval towns, deep forests, city centres, old train route, muddy valleys, all spiced up with breathtaking panoramas. The course starts in the 3000 years old town Labin, climbs the Učka mountain and descends in Buzet where your drop bag will wait for you.

After the well-deserved rest, the trail leads you to the smallest town in the world, the town of Hum,  then to the medieval pearl Motovun and back to the finish in Umag.

169,5 km with 6.632 m doesn’t seem so hard but trust us, this course is very demanding and it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Welcome to the 7th edition of the ultra trail race 100 miles of Istria!

    14th sailing cruiser regatta

The best sailing cruisers crews from Istria and Kvarner will show their skills in taming the wind and waves in front of the Rabac coast. As the Labin miners once with their solidarity managed to create Labin Republic, the same values of unity are passed on nowadays by the regatta competitors who achieve their victories using skill, agility and team spirit.

In the 18th and 19th century, the picturesque bays of Rabac, Sv. Marina and Prtlog were anchorage sites for wooden sailing ships, whereas today the seamen skills and centuries-old maritime tradition of this area are transferred by fast boats.
