The selection proposed is their masterpiece and deserves the award for the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil Monovarietal - Medium Fruity. Founded in 1991 by the brothers Livio and Lorenzo, this farm in Vodnjan is run today by the young Matteo Belci. The specialized olive grove extends over 16 hectares with 3,500 old and new trees. In the last harvest 180 quintals of olives were produced, equal to almost 20 hectolitres of oil. There are two excellent Extra Virgin Meloto, Žižolera and the extraordinary Buža, chosen by the panel. It is an intense limpid golden yellow colour with delicate green hues. Its aroma is definite and ample, rich in hints of unripe tomato and white apple, together with fragrant notes of basil and mint. Its taste has ample vegetal notes of artichoke and broad beans, celery and lettuce, with a strong note of white pepper. Bitterness is definite and pungency is distinct. It would be ideal on bruschette with tomatoes, baked porcini mushrooms, marinated swordfish, grilled radicchio, artichoke purée, pasta with meat sauce, blue fish au gratin, barbecued red meat or game, hard mature cheese.
