Motovun-Montona was built on a 277 meter high hill situated in the central part of Istria south above the valley of the River Mirna. The town is some twenty kilometers away from Buje-Buie, on one side, and from Buzet, on the other. Its economy is based on agriculture, winegrowing and cattle farming.
