7th chocolate & wine festival
Passionate chocolate lovers always on the quest for more in the sweet world of chocolate tastes and flavours are invited to the Choco & Wine fest in Brtonigla, revealing the new trends of pairing chocolate with wine to its visitors.
The festival will be held on Saturday, 16th and Sunday 17th February 2019.
On that day, you will be able to enjoy a menu that will, in a special way, blend chocolate and wine.
The Brtonigla Adventure Trekk, a trekking race, attracting over 250 participants from Croatia, Italy and Slovenia every year, will be held in the framework of the festival. This date was purposefully chosen for the race to show that “sports and chocolate go together”.
Winter signs have already knocked at our doors. When most of the continents are trapped in the ice and snow, we invite you to the Choco & wine Fest and the Brtonigla Adventure Trekk in the picturesque Istrian town Brtonigla!
Discover Istrian hidden treasures of untouched nature, enjoy the landscape around the river Mirna, run through the woods, rich vineyard and olive grove, walk up the hills and meet small medieval towns which offer unforgettable views from mountain Učka to the Adriatic Sea!
Trekking race is a trail run race with elements of orientation. It is very popular in Croatia and Slovenia. The configuration of terrain is as same as for the trail run race, except for the lane that is not market. There are only control points marked on the map. A competitor receives a map with control points and chooses by himself the fastest way to reach them. In principle, orientation is very simple.

16. International cycling stage race (UCI 2.2)
It was once called the Adriatic Highway and connected the northern Adriatic with Dalmatia. Today is called Istarsko Proljeće - Istrian Spring as the entire route passes through Istria.
In the last couple of years the race has consisted of four sections: a prologue and three stages. While the prologue consists of several kilometres in which sprinters come to the fore with the aim of winning the first leaders T-shirt, other stages offer a number of curiosities. Organisers do not want to exclude anyone: on this race both mountain riders and sprinters come out as well as those who like escapes. Over the four days the race goes around Istria, mainly through its interior, although it does not bypass the coast either.
Professional and continental category teams are usually the main participants in the Istrian Spring race among which future champions and winners of stages on the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España can often be found hiding.

During the celebration of the Day of the Municipality and the local patron Saint Zeno, will be held a solemn session of the Municipal Council during which will be awarded with prizes and certificates the citizens and businesses who achieved exceptional results.
Numerous sports and active holiday lovers will find enough reasons to come to Istria even in the winter months, but the first days of spring brings the sixth edition of the ultra trail race 100 miles of Istria. From 2016, 100 Miles of Istria is a part of the Ultra-Trail World Tour (UTWT), a collection of the greatest ultra-trail races around the globe.
The 100 miles course is the hardest and the most beautiful course, it stretches from the eastern part of Istria, over its highest mountain down to the mainland, and ends on the western part of the peninsula in the city of Umag. Along the route you will experience every possible aspect of trail running - really technical terrain, a little bit of coastering, old medieval towns, deep forests, city centres, old train route, muddy valleys, all spiced up with breath-taking panoramas.
The first course starts in the 3000 years old town Labin, climbs the Učka mountain and descends in Buzet. The trail leads you afterwards to the smallest town in the world, the town of Hum, then to the medieval pearl Motovun and back to the finish in Umag.
The second largest course offers you “the climb”, right in the beginning, from the sea level directly to the top of the Učka mountain. Reaching the foot of the mountain peak, the 109 km trail merges with the 100 miles trail until Buzet. From Buzet, the trail leads you towards Oprtalj. Before you reach Umag you will have to climb mountains, cross the stream but you’ll also see the ruins of the Pietrapelosa castle.
The third race, 67 kilometres long trail is an excellent start for participants as well as the fourth race which is quite a novelty and is dedicated to beginners in trail running.
The finish of all the races and the centre of events will be in Umag where Ledo 1 mile children race will be held.

Concerts on Thursdays
It is a well known fact that running is healthy for you, but few know that at the same time, it is an extremely entertaining activity. You will be able to perceive the other side of running, the more fun side, if you join the event in the Aquapark Istralandia this June.
Istralandia Run&Slide is rather an unusual race, during which 5 kilometres are run through the complex of the water park and surrounding trails, but the real surprise awaits you on the finish.
The breath-taking scenery and stunning views will delight all amateurs and athletes, whilst the real wow factor will be experienced before the finish line, when contestants will slide on a water slide with six paths.
